Some mellotron stuff

Some mellotron stuff

2012-07-17 by jason wietlispach

Thought some(okay maybe just a few)of you might enjoy this track which features my Mellotron 400. It's a free improv piece that features the strings and choir on my set of tapes I bought from Markus Resch. The piano sound is my 70's Yamaha CP-30 electric piano.

Nice stuff, thanks! I like the half-speed 'tron near the beginning.

1/2 speed? I've never tried to do that. The only thing it's going through is am Alesis rack reverb.

My mistake, Jason, it seemed like it. It sounded slowed down a bit.
One impression I did perceive from the music (and I may be wrong again) was that the sound of the 'tron was intended to be just that: a mellotron. Not a specific orchestral instrument or imitation. I like that. It creates an eerie atmosphere.

I mostly just use reverb from my 'tron and the volume knob to create swells. I do use one of these, an Alesis Ineko, also and they are amazing, super easy to use/read, and can turn your mono mellotron into stereo. It's probably the most user friendly unit out there for "tweaking" a mellotron live.
