Hi All
I popped in to the church today to have a look at the organ I have so much fun with (no, I mean the other one). Must get to hear it some time.
I read on t'internet that this is not the original 1862 one but a replacement installed 1912, if anyone cares about such tedious trivia.
Does anyone know when the recordings were made, and was it on the Mk1 and Mk11?

Hey Martin, You shouldn’t hate the band that is probably most responsible for the Mellotron being known by the ordinary musician.
I am sure they influenced many of the sales in the old days.
….But that is NOT a Mellotron doing the pipes on CTTE…..it’s a synth live and the real deal on the album.
I saw it preformed many times.
Cheers,
Gary

I didn't bash them - I just can't stand them. It's personal choice, nothing more. They are well respected but I can't force myself to like them because they used a mellotron. So did Pavlov's Dog and Czar. Neither of them get played around here. In truth, I would probably hate most of the bands that Andy documents on his site. Mellotrons inspired a LOT of non musicians and lousy composers. That grandiose sound gave credence to a lot of weak musical ideas. Pomp over substance. I also loathe......Lynyrd Skynrd, U2, REM, and many many more. Music is such a devisive subject. Luckily I am always correct! Discuss.

I saw Monster Magnet a long time ago as an opener at the Concord Pavilion. They were one of the worst bands
I have seen at a professional concert level venue. They were practically booed of the stage. Boring performance
with no direction or redeeming qualities….at least that was my experience (and that of thousands of others who
were also in attendance that day.

Hey Mark,
Never heard of Monster Magnet; I listened to a few tracks; not bad.
One of my friends is mostly into prog and he turned me on to this group during the mid 90's. They are a mix of metal and symphonic prog. Their vocalist "Mr. Doctor" reminds me a little of Peter Gabriel when he was with Genesis and slightly of Peter Hammill.
I like them, but I don't find myself listening to their albums too often.
