Keyboard Stand

Keyboard Stand

2012-03-12 by tron400

Anyone here familiar with the OnStage KS-7902 2-tier A-frame keyboard stand? I'm wondering if it could hold a Hammond XK3 on the bottom tier and a Korg M3-61 on the top tier while straddling an M400 + 2 inches. There's a horizontal crossbar on the back that would be in the way unless it could be moved to the bottom or moved up above the top of the Tron, but I'm concerned with the stability.

Hi Bernie,

That back brace is going to be a problem. If you move it to the top or bottom you will lose lateral stability.
If you had only one keyboard needed above the tron you could use a table style stand and possibly do a "L"
formation setup for your keys. The tron is an awkward shape (depth) and to do what you want may take a
custom stand. I am sure someone on this list has a solution of some sort.

Cheers,

Gary

Hi Gary,

I was waiting for your reply. I was hoping that the upper horizontal bar would solve the stability problem if I moved the moveable horizontal bar to the bottom. I've also thought of getting an additional horizontal bar and moving it to a strategic location. I'd like to look at one of these stands, but nobody in my area has them in stock.

Konig & Meyer 18810 Omega TABLE-STYLE KEYBOARD STAND

2012-03-13 by Robert

Hi Bernie,

I have one of these table style keyboard stands and it might work for you ? The price is approximately $175. You can buy the optional stacker for approximately $110.

I am not sure if it is wide enough to slide your Mellotron in between the legs. Could you please measure the outer most width of your tron and I will take measurements.

There is a Konig & Meyer video on YouTube for this stand.

I believe this stand is manufactured in Germany ? I think it is a high quality stand and is very stable.

I bought it from a company called "Music Stands Alone" in the USA. Their phone number is 203-988-8600. I was assisted by Thomas Esposito, who I found to be very helpful and a real nice guy.

Best Regards,

Robert

I use the "Z" two tier stand from OnStage and it's solid as a rock. Unfortunately it relies on a cross brace that
is integral to its strength so you would face the same problem. I wish I had a better answer. Custom stands
cost a lot but can be built to fit just about any situation.

I have one of those for my XK3 and M3; nice stand, but definitely won't fill my needs. I have a friend that's good at designing and building stuff. Maybe he can come up with something.

Bernie,

No, I don't know the town. I believe this is a "mail order" outfit and they may not have a physical retail location ? When I bought the stand and stacker (2nd tier) from Music Stands Alone, it was shipped from an outfit called Connolly Music Company. Maybe they are affiliated or Connolly is the USA distributor for K & M ?

keyboard stand? I'm wondering if it could hold a Hammond XK3 on the
bottom tier and a Korg M3-61 on the top tier while straddling an M400 +
2 inches. There's a horizontal crossbar on the back that would be in
the way unless it could be moved to the bottom or moved up above the
top of the Tron, but I'm concerned with the stability.

Re: Konig & Meyer 18810 Omega TABLE-STYLE KEYBOARD STAND

2012-03-13 by tron400

Hi Mark,

It does look like the 18810 would work. I was confusing the max support width of just over 34 inches with the base width, which is a little over 41 inches. That leaves about 3.5 inches clearance on each side of the Mellotron cabinet.

Bernie

Oops, a little less because of the thickness of the support legs.
