Mike Reina is rebuilding his recording studio and needs to raise some money. He is offering his Mellotron for sale. I completely restored this Mellotron back in 2007 and then last year (2010) it came back for some further improvements. Many of you might remember it. I called it "Lazarus" and for good reason. The photos show why.
This Mellotron is exceptional and I am very proud of it. Mike recently formed a band with Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) called Skysaw, and this Mellotron is prominently featured on that record. It has an amazing keyboard that is lightning-fast and the machine just sounds wonderful.
Lazarus comes with a flight case, so if it has to be shipped, this will make it that much easier to do. Mike would like $5,500.00 for it and it's worth every dime. If anyone in the group is interested, please let me know. Before it goes to its new owner, I intend to go through it one last time as a favor to Mike to make sure it is perfect.
This Mellotron isn't inexpensive, but nothing needs to be done to it. It will come with a full set of maintenance instructions and a complete photo journal of all the work that went into making it what it has become. It should give many years of trouble free use, with absolute reliability.
Frank
This is the machine. Additional photos of the rebuild and the interior are available to any interested party.

Looks like a bargain, Frank, if I lived in the USA I could almost be tempted to be unfaithful to #1565.

One thing I can't understand is why anyone would ever sell a mellotron, I would have to be starving to part with mine and I'm sure mine is nothing like as good as Lazarus.

I wonder how many years it's going to be before musicians and techs begin referencing the "Stickle Trons"?
