C3 update.....

C3 update.....

2011-07-05 by Jack Younger

A Leslie 122 has turned up! One of my studio partners who's got a bunch of gear here has one sitting around in his storage locker! Thankfully it was not present during his Hammond's untimely demise by flooding several years back. He's stoked to give it a new home at the studio and rev it up again.

Apparently, it has an extension pedal that enables one to use either a half-moon OR footswitch! Perfect for the studio. I'll be able to accommodate both styles.

The organ tech has been briefed and awaits it's arrival. Now we schedule the movers....

Thank you so much everybody for the kind words, advice and stories. ;It's all very exciting. I'm pretty sure my "gear luck" is run dry and will take some time to recharge, no doubt.

Cheers!

Here she is! Still had the bag of screws hanging from the connection panel! The inside of this thing is super clean. So psyched. Unfortunately it'll be a few days before the tech goes through it and the Leslie arrives. I wanna hear this thing so badly. I thought you guys might like to see the beast hanging from the studio hoist. Always a fun sight.Cheers!

Very very nice. I'm wishing that my Conn spinet was that clean inside, but the dustbunnies took over long ago.

I'm excited to hear what you do with your Hammond.

C3 update.....

Up and running, y'all. It was so dry for so long that the starter motor was frozen. Keeping an eye (ear?) on her for awhile while the oil seeps in. But the tech (Tyler at Boss Organ in Somerville) got it all taken care of in about an hour. The leslie needed some minor adjustments. The only casualty; vibrato scanner is also frozen and will need a rebuild. Not too bad. When all is said and done, I'll have dropped about $400 for servicing and mods. It sounds amazing....can't say enough about that. Now to see how it tracks......

I did give a fresh update a few days ago....hmmmm Perhaps it didn't go through:

So that was last Thursday. I have sessions booked Friday and next week for it. Been messing with it...We still need to install the hand switch and the leslie stop function (three position switch). Currently it has a two position footswitch (fast/slow). I was actually somewhat taken aback by the leslie's quickness in speed change. Very responsive. He also added a sweet 1/4" output with a trim pot. I am so in love with this thing....my mellotron is a bit jealous at the moment.

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure that the ramp up and ramp down speeds are adjustable.
