Seriously, that is a very ambitious project to take on. Lots of components to be replaced. Possibly a lot of alignments to be done. But, with modern replacement caps, it should be a bit lighter. The wood cabinet really gives it some class.

The Soniccouture and Hollow Sun Kontakt libraries don't have that problem. They're both very good. The Soniccouture set is from Phil Cirocco's restored Novachord.

No. Hire real musicians. They may also occasionally play out tune, but at least they can get themselves to gigs -- usually.

Great, thanks for the tip.

I need three violins, cello, flute and a double bass player for the lower
notes on the cello sound.

Will they bring chairs ? A need a squeaky one for a note.

Not only will they not bring chairs (well, the flutist might agree to bring one -- for extra money), they will complain about the chairs you provide, especially the violinists. You should consider hiring only two of those. Any more than that, and they show tendencies of "herd mentality" following the Alpha Violinist (the one sitting at the front on the outside) and will do anything and agree with anything this person says, no matter how insane. Tell the double bass player to bring beer. They're always more than happy to do that. If you want hard liquor, you need to hire a trombonist or two.

and no need for glasses - they'll drink right out of the bottle...after they've broken the neck off.

Actually, I have been in touch with Phil and I'm a huge fan. He contacted
me and sent me a nice email after viewing my video of the Blue Mellotron
restoration. Kinda like comparing the restoration of a VW Beetle to a vintage
Rolls Royce, but it was a nice gesture on Phil's part.

Great, thanks for the tip.

I need three violins, cello, flute and a double bass player for the lower
notes on the cello sound.

Will they bring chairs ? A need a squeaky one for a note.

No. Hire real musicians. They may also occasionally play out tune, but at
least they can get themselves to gigs -- usually.

Tip - don't encourage them to tune up together. That road leads to disaster.

I'm led to believe that if you have hard liquor in the house then you will attract trombonists from the street.

You'll attract them from the surrounding 25 miles, actually.

nah, ya gotta have 3 violinists. Only two and they can't decide who's in tune. Remember the string player's rule: Safety in Numbers. Now if you really want a brawl, stick a coloratura soprano in the middle of that trombone section.

Not only will they not bring chairs (well, the flutist might agree to bring one -- for extra money), they will complain about the chairs you provide, especially the violinists. You should consider hiring only two of those. Any more than that, and they show tendencies of "herd mentality" following the Alpha Violinist (the one sitting at the front on th e outside) and will do anything and agree with anything this person says, no matter how insane. Tell the double bass player to bring beer. They're always more than happy to do that. If you want hard liquor, you need to hire a trombonist or two.

Well, if you have only two violins and they're playing out of tune, just shoot on.

Q: What's the difference between a soprano and a bit bull?

A: Lipstick.
