Tape has been torn apart

Tape has been torn apart

2007-12-31 by thomasooo2003

Hi Mellotron folks,

something has been happend the first time since I have my M 400 (since 10 years) and that's
the thing that a lot of people ask me first: those old tapes, don't they splitt after a while?
Yes, and now it has been happend, a B flat tape has been splitt (i hope thats the right English
term...). Any advance to repair it the correct way? As you may guess I hope it wouldn't splitt
again later. Or is it better to order a new single tape (standard: flute/violins/cello) if this is
available. I also had to replace the first time some springs — they had some kind of »car
accident« and were completly entangled. Thank to Markus Resch for sending me replacement
springs!

Greetings & a happy New Year,
Thomas

Thomas:
You could try using adhesive tape to repair it yourself. (Sellotape).

Video tapes often need to be spliced back together. You may find
someone in your town that repairs video and audio tapes.
