There was somebody on the list ( ?one of the Andy's ) who was interested in the notching of the tape edges on the old tape frame of my tron. Where the tapes lie on the capstan the edges of the tape appear notched, somebody did ask whether if it was the tape that was notched or just the oxide worn off the tape.

Anyway it being Spring down here, I have spent the morning demagnetising and cleaning the tape heads and have put the old rack back on the machine. The tape edges themselves are notched it is not worn off oxide. Near the end of the tapes there is a band of worn off oxide, presumably due to the capstan rubbing off the oxide when the tape is jammed at the end of 8 seconds.

Now to start messing about with the 8 Choir and the Mark II 3 violins.

The new tape set has the split choir which has been something of a disappointment, I really liked that sound in M-tron but haven't really found a use for it with a real tron, does anybody know whether they actually are the same voices?
