Out of The Blue is a collection of 1970s John Lennon studio outtakes.  
Watching The Wheels and Only You are the same takes offered officially on the  “
Anthology” 4-CD box. Jealous Guy and Nobody Told Me are different takes, 
which  are not available officially. - Philip Cohen 
For many mainstream listeners, the four-CD Anthology boxset is probably the 
 first time they encountered John Lennon’s home recordings. [For the more  
hardcore Beatles fans, the Abbey Road sessions provide a good idea of what 
it  was like in the studio.] And for the Lennon fans, the Lost Lennon Tapes 
would  have been a good place to start and recent releases such as The Lost 
Home Tapes  1965-1969; John Lennon - At Home; Come On, Listen To Me and older 
releases such  as Listen To This… are worthwhile companion albums. 
Out Of The Blue is a 1989 mix-and-match compilation that not only lets you 
in  on the creative process but practically gives the listener a front-row 
view of  the works in progress. Partly because of Lennon’s personality 
[imagined or  perceived] and the song selection, the result is a captivating hour 
where the  listener walks away feeling as if he or she has a private sharing 
with  Lennon.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the  
now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small  
Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.
