Thanks Chris- I had to retrieve my copy of Roger Dean's excellent art book "Views" and re-live a bit of the '70s. Page 130 shows Martyn's Retreat Pod, and Roger's pod-like Childrens Bed follows on page 134. Pages of house designs followed that. Mind-bending! Then there were his amazing watercolor posters.... Hey, did he have any thoughts on the Mellotron? -Bruce D. --- On Fri, 4/23/10, Chris Dale <unobtainiumkeys@gmail.com> wrote: From: Chris Dale <unobtainiumkeys@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] The Key to Science is Prog Rock (The Venture Bros) To: newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com Date: Friday, April 23, 2010, 11:48 PM Number 2 sat in an Earo Arnio Ball chair. The Egg Chair was a different designer (maybe Italian) The retreat pod chair ( half of which appears in Clockwork Orange before the rape scene) was created by Martyn Dean - Roger Dean's brother who did all the Yes stage architecture. Roger and I discussed this a some length during a recent weekend course / exhibit I attended. Loved the "Egg Chair"(but with windows?). I remember the ones that had speakers planted in them. $500 to $700 each in the mid '70's. I believe Roger Dean even designed one. Phaaaaar Out! -Bruce D.
