Actually, Bernie, that's my mellotron you're listening to, I believe. It was used for several of the libraries recordings when it was back in England for a spot of fixing up in 2001.
There are two notes (C2 being one of them) that are rather painfully out of tune, to the point where I don't use them. Also, if you think this viola sounds good overall, than I'd suggest listening to more violists -- if you can stomach their constant whining. ;)
It's a lovely-sounding instrument in the right hands and if it's recorded properly.
Believe me, we can do better than this.
