I definitely saw the Rhino Records logo on the CDs and DVDs, so must be
that version vs. EMD.

Which box set? There's the Rhino Records version and then there's the
EMD International version. Are they the same mixes? I have the EMD
version, but I haven't had a chance to sit down and listen closely yet.

sure if we covered here on the board or not, but I both like and dislike
portions.

The first CD I played was Seconds Out "Firth of Fifth" and I fast
forwarded to the Steve Hackett guitar solo; I'm an impatient bastard!
It's hands down my favorite Genesis moment, especially when the bass
pedals come in. But to me, it sounded really compressed. The differences
between the loud and soft parts were very diminished. The overall mix on
the Seconds Out re-issue was an emphasis on vocals and the instruments,
particularly keyboards, were markedly diminished. When I listen to
music, I tend to ignore vocals and concentrate on the instuments. Anyone
else do that?

from 1973. Dancing With The Moonlit Knight and particularly Cinema Show
had some guitar surprises, but again the 8 voice choir was mixed way
down.
