I know you are right Frank , I did manage to wire in a standard socket but trust me if I attempted the CM10 and belt change I would be swapping a tron which works reasonably well for one that didn't work at all!

Mike, do you still have a CM10 in your tron? I have exactly the same tuning problems with my tron and had thought it was due to the CM10. Being 12,000 miles from help and mechanically challenged I decided to put up with it rather install the new card and then possibly a new motor.
Mark,
Get a SMS-2 or SMS-5 and a seamless belt from Streetly and be done with it. Also make sure the belt tension is right. A little too much will lead to pitch drift and a not quite enough will do the same. Installing an SMS board and rewiring the power supply is a piece of cake. Your motor is most probably good enough. The difference will be amazing.

See all this crap?
Once you install the SMS board you can get rid of it all except these two capacitors. I have since replaced them because they were leaking.
And look how clean the power supply looks now?
I also ditched the PAL connector and replaced it with a nice gold plated RCA connector after this photo was taken
While your there, replace the Bulgin with a standard IEC mains socket.
