There's a bunch of Oasis numbers from when they got really bloated and
pompous, third album onwards I think, any of them would do, "Don't
look back in Anger" probably the worst, though "wonderwall" is pretty
dreadful too.
A bunch of unmemorable neo-progressive bands who combine sappy
sub-elton john "songwriting" (IE nowhere near as good as Elton
himself, who could write a catchy tune) with terribly unimaginative
use of mellotron as a "progressive" stylistic signifier (the thing
isn't a substitute organ, dumbass, it's an impact instrument! Use
sparingly). Spock's Beard probably the apotheosis of this, especially
their earlier stuff where they were a bit plagiaristic in the
songwriting/arrangement stakes to boot. I used to play in a covers
band where the drummer and the singer were big SB fans, no laffs to be
had there for sure.
