The Mellotron Group

I would love one of these but that is a crazy price. Furthermore, I don't know about the "sonic superiority" of the M series. Each track takes 1/8th of a half inch tape. The M400 takes 1/3 of a 3/8th inch tape. So….the M400 tracks are on double the width. A lot is said about the superiority of the preamp in the M4….I don't know. Side to side with the Chamberlin I kind of love my Mellotron. There is more high end, perhaps greater clarity in the Chamberlin, these are things I roll off! I much prefer the head cleaning process on the M400 that's for sure. I love the Chamberlin and it does have it's own unique qualities but I can't have any of this Mellotron bashing.
