The last time I recorded with a Mellotron (70’s) it sounded fine. Back then they were borrowed or rented since
(to address your jab J) I don’t own one. Now that may not allow me to have an opinion on this group but
I have recorded groups with Mellotron and samples and I spent copious amounts of time listening to Genesis,
King Crimson, etc. recorded and live…..and I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night! (US commercial for those abroad).
Seriously , I have run them through guitar amps, reverb, and whatever to get the sound I wanted like the albums
I listened to. Sorry if my ears aren’t as Mellotron astute as some here but I wasn’t trying to put down the tape machines
in any way….I think you know that…..actually I was expecting that response from Frank! J
