Ferry's voice is amazing! Those songs would be rubbish if someone sang them in an 'ordinary' voice. 
"Before I die, I write this let-ter..."
"Valerie, pur-lease, believe me, it never would have worked out..."
"I blew up your body... but you blew my mind" 
etc etc etc
