Keyboard Concertmate MG-1 Article

2001-01-26 by Tentochi

Very nice article in the Feb 2001 issue of Keyboard if you haven't checked
it out yet.

I am sure Paul will be immortalized in the future in some vintage synth
tome.

I thought you did a little bit more of the design Paul. Would you like to
further elaborate for us here on the list? I would especially like to hear
about the interactions with Moog and their other staff members. And how
design decisions were made.

I thought the MG-1 was based on the Rogue and Liberation, but the article
says it was the other way around. Where did the original plans come from?

Thanks!
Shemp

The Moog designer was named Rich Hurber (sp?), who I met for the first time
at NAMM. The Rogue
and Liberation came after the MG-1.

The basic design came from Moog. Steve and I modified it. Rich the made the
changes. I tested and approved them.
I did all of the panel design and some of the VCO design.

I downplayed it because I can't take full credit (never claimed to be THE
designer, just A designer).

BTW: am I dreaming, or is 'egroups' now yahoogroups? Better not be a spam
flood!

I'd just like to publically thank listmember sikorsky - I got a copy of
stripboard magic from him, and it's in the computer (still sussing it
out) ...so....dont forget this:

sikorsky = one of the good guys

Hey! I just noticed that as well! What gives?

also:

I should be getting some more modcan modules in about 10 days. Nothing
that duplicates any of MOTM's modules handily enough...
do you want me to post my impressions here, or shall I just pitch it on
AH and let them pick it over? Please let me know...

best etc

Yes, I noticed it as well when my Eudora filter stopped putting the MOTM
list posts into the correct mail folder. Anybody also notice that the ads
at the bottom are gone!!

Yahoo bought egroups (for those who didn't figure it out yet).

hello all,

would any of you still love me even if i were incapable of wiring an input
to a jack marked 'input' - and on two different modules..?
just a theoretical question mind ;-)

meanwhile throwing caution to the wind, while i've got my, erm, butchers
iron out:
was there ever a mod / method of gating the bypass jack on the 820..?

cheers
paul b
(with mysteriously working now VCAs and logic module)
oh yes, and i forgot:

all hail the blinky lights - especially the blue ones
