Big DIY panel Image, Delete if too large for U

Big DIY panel Image, Delete if too large for U

Well I finally got my free digital camera from Earthlink so I took this
picture to show my Roland M-181 panel set up. Hope you enjoy and are good at
decifering the blurry image.

PS. Couldn't remember my password to put this up on our MOTM e-group. Sorry

like it (having only just wired my 181 up a couple of weeks ago)
is the lettering dry transfer, or one of those laser print / uv exposure
jobs..?
what does the switch do..?

i decided on a set of deltron locking din connectors - just in case
like the obligatory cv indicator just in shot - i have four of them sticking
up from the minijacks on my 181

(half the diy side of my modular is currently in dry dock while i finally
sort out those annoying faults)

ah...

it's the same panel fitting, the only problem is you'll have to dismantle
your 181 to re-solder the keyboard end
i re-hooked up all the cv, gate & trigger connections, but i just use a
short length of 10A 3 core mains to power the keys, and patch direct from
the 1/4" jacks on the back

from re-wiring mine, it really looks like the 1/4", 1/8" & umbilical
connections are all tied together
i've never really noticed any drain, but then i'm still a couple of hours
away from getting my studio wired again after moving (it's that bit behind
the mixing desk that i hate - especially with a gammy leg / flightcase
injury)
only the cv would really matter, but with a modular that's all subjective
any, i never believe for one minute i could tune the whole thing and leave
it "tuned" for more than one session, something's *bound* to get moved
as for the gate, even after the resistor network mod, my 181 is still
pumping out 7.5V gates
by the way for the record, being the luddite that i am, i was unsure whether
it was worth spending the dosh on a 181 when i have a couple of perfectly
good midi/cv converters and a midi keyboard...
...oh how wrong i was, the difference is amazing - even i can tell

Yeah the color of the panel is shit. I used the laser printer label/adhesive
method for this one. The thing looks pure black in my studio, but when the
flash went off it exposed the lighter side of the label :~( I feel naked

The switch on the panel connects the 2 rows of multiples to the cv and gate
outs of the M-181. This way I can get 5 cv and gate outs right off the
M-181. Its works great. I didn't have room for or predict the need for a
multiples row for the trigger out.

I like the locking din idea. Wish i woulda...

If you have the plug led monitors in all four of the holes on your M-181
Paul, do you drain the signal from the din cable outs? I wonder if the cable
has a buffer separate from the 1/8 outs on the keyboard.
