One other question: who makes the RG-174 coax, in case we want to try to
find an exact replacement locally?

Belden and Alpha both make it.

Any additional specs we would need to buy the coax ourselves? Diameters?
Mesh type? Model number? Part number?

Do you have a roll and just cut us off a (single) length of it? I can cut
and strip and tin and bend (I think that is all that would need to be
done.). Isn't that part of what kits are all about. Saves you time and
money and makes it more fun for us! Yippee!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
WHERE'S MY FILLY?
SWPM Stud-o-mighty looking for lost fillies. 6'3". 23. Blue eyes. Blonde
hair. Trainer at nationally recognized gym. Ready to saddle up and go to
the rodeo. Call me at 1-888-818-6686!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I have a feeling nobody on the list fits this bill. If we did, we wouldn't
have time to do geeky (and incredibly fun) things like build synthesizers
with soldering irons and solder suckers.

BTW, any women in the MOTM ranks yet?

Folks, I just located 100 ft or so of Belden RG-174 in my local small town
electronics supply house, so it must not be too rare.

"RG-174" dictates a lot of this...

From:

http://www.therfc.com/coax.htm

7 strands .0063" Cu-clad center conductor with poly dielectric & type
IIA non-contaminating jacket. Nominal impedance 50 Ohm; velocity of
propagation 65.9% outer diameter .100"; 98% tinned Cu braid.

As for purchasing... I was able to find the cable in searching the web
sites of:

Mouser Electronics, http://www.mouser.com/
(500' roll or 1000' roll)

Hamtronics, http://www.hamtronics.com/accys.html
6' for $3.00

ElectroCables, http://www.electrocables.com/cpage09.htm

Antennas & More, http://www.antennasmore.com/price.htm

I just fired up Alta Vista (http://www.altavista.com/) and searched on
"RG-174".
