brand new Moog ribbons??

brand new Moog ribbons??

1999-06-15 by Christopher Jeris

Dave Bradley says he bought his Moog ribbon controller brand new in the
early 1970s ... This makes me wonder ...

How old is everybody here ?! :)

Just curious, really. I'll be 23 next month, but it seems from the
traffic like most of you are old-timers. (Been quiet lately because I'm
unemployed and job-searching so I can't afford a MOTM habit for the
moment!)

ObMOTM: At the moment, it seems like the list archives are the only
source for MOTM mods. Paul, would you consider adding a MODS page to the
MOTM website? Or would you rather have one of us maintain it? I'm
willing but others are likely more qualified.

peace,

Chris Jeris (unemployed in Chicago)
P.S. The half-built 700 does NOT look like an alien spider. I found
something just like it in my gumbo in New Orleans a few years back.

I'm 29. Had my 29th birthday Sunday, as a matter of fact. I had my 29th
birthday last year, too. And the year before.

Chris,
I Can't speak for everyone but I'm 46. Started with synthesizers in 1975. I
have made all the mods listed in the archives and found all but one are
already implemented in the current modules. (I'M new to MOTM). That one is
the Trigger mod for the ADSR.

Sorry for the babble - one more question.

Is the MOTM list "unlisted" on onelist.com? I've long since deleted the
original messages with the archive address, and I can't find the list
archives using onelist's "search engine". Could somebody remind me of the
archive URL?

ps. "old-timer" was meant as a compliment of sorts. It's nice to be young
and stupid occasionally, but when trying to puzzle out a schematic I could
definitely wish for a few more years of experience!

peace,

Chris Jeris (idle leech on society in Chicago)

I'm 20, I currently have a modest studio with two homebuilt cases of
homebuilt stuff for a total of 19U worth, as well as too many goodies to
list here without wasting space. I started building when I was 16, (15? I
forget) and joined synth-diy a little after then. I'm pretty sure I was
the youngest member for a while. Since then there's been no hope for me.
Current projects include putting together my tomg VCO's, assembling a
compilation of Boston-area electronic musicians, and getting enough
quality material together for a 7" of my own. (and of course saving $$ for
future MOTM gear...)

Andrew

PS: I got very excited yesterday when I saw the new ~5/8" form factor (vs.
their old 1" size) for Mousers alpha pots. I think I need to get out
more..

Man, everything I say today is coming out wrong. I'm really sorry if I
offended anybody. Some days your foot just gets wedged into your mouth
and it's impossible to get it out.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled MOTM-list humorists (Moe and
Curly).

peace,

Chris Jeris

I turned 73 in March. I got my start in electronic music at Bell Labs in
the late 50's.

Go get 'em Chris.

Me, I'm 38

Wait - how the hell did that happen?

It was just the other day that ARP released the Ody.

Anyway, it was always a dream to own a modular, and a fantasy to build one.
Thanks Paul.

PS I'm going back to school.

See , I't never is too late!

Larry Hendry, back from vacation here (the official Larry of Larry, Curly,
and Moe). I am one of the old farts I guess. I am 43. I have been
playing music for 37 years. And, I have been destroying components with a
soldering iron (and nut driver) for about 33 years.

I wasn't offended by any of your comments as I am prefectly capable of
being old, experienced, young, stupid, and just plain out of touch all in
the same day (too many recreational drugs in the 70s I think). For
example, Thursday, on vacation, I was young all day riding a jet ski,
jumping waves and speeding across the water at 55 MPH. By Friday, I was
old again wondering why it is now so painful to walk.
