[motm] NYC/NE MOTM UG

Hey list,

Oh whoops! I didn't realize the mistake I had made until you repeated it, Charles--I don't have quite that many modules :( I have 15, so I think we'll still have good coverage, but when I wrote to Charles I was trying to figure out a different case configuration and was working with the idea of 22 units of space in something... etc...

22 modules in those SKB cases (though light, the cases that is) would be a pain to haul up there on the subway! :)

Sorry for the brain-lapse on my part.

Hello all,

This is a follow up to David Bivens' post earlier this
week. As you may have read He and I are hosting the first of many NYC/NE
MOTM User Groups. The date is Saturday July 1st from 1 to 4pm. So far
we will have at least 5 attendees! Everyone is welcome so if you can
make it please come. David and I will provide snacks and beverages for
all. David will be bringing his 22 module system as well as his tb-303
and tr-606. I will have my 12 module system as well. So if you can't
bring yours we probably have every module covered. The address is 135
west 26th street 2nd floor between 6th and 7th avenues in NYC. Ring
buzzer #26 for Temple of Soul or the stand alone buzzer for Dubway
Studios. Either one will get you to the 2nd floor. The phone number is
212-633-6823. There is parking a few doors down 26th street towards 6th
avenue. NYC parking is expensive. About $20 for 3 hours. Alternately you
can unload in front, I will come and help, and then you can try to find
street parking. Penn Station is a ten minute walk and has connections
from Amtrak and the LIRR. Grand Central Station is a short subway or cab
ride and services Metro North Railway. David is even considering making
T-shirts! If you have any questions please feel free to ask. If anyone
has a digital camera to document the event please bring it. I will
repost this the week before the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you!
Regards, Charles.

hi list!

manhattan is right close to me here in lower CT..
but i'm a bad candidate for MOTM meetings now..
only got three modules assembled & they are hardly
even touched (working on a case (forever i think))
so i'm not really a *user* am i????

also who am i to come? new york city doesn't like me..
i mean-over $700 in parking tickets. so i still want to come
but right now only know about two or three MOTM owners..
yes, you may speculate as to david bivins' involvement
in my kit ownership.. whatever. i'm clueless. who else is
around here anyways? i was told by paul s that someone
had a big modular in greenwich, don't know who though..

sorry for incoherency

RE: [motm] NYC/NE MOTM UG

2000-06-17 by David Bivins

The users' group meeting (according to me) is open to all MOTM
users--there's no 4 module minimum or anything like that at all ;) I even
think it's worth bending the "users'" part to include potential MOTMers
(with discretion); these puppies aren't available in stores, so this is the
best way to learn about them up-close-and-personal.

Think about it--what better way to learn about which module you're buying
next than coming to the meeting? :)

Leave the modules home and take Metro North to avoid those tickets--you
won't be far from the studio if you come in by train.

We want you there, Josiah!

;)

David.

I totally agree with David. All are welcome who are interested in MOTM.
We have plenty of space for the meeting. I myself are very excited about
learning how others use their system. There are so many possibilties it
is mind boggling. And it is not how many of anything that you have, it
is what you do with what you have. So take the Metro North to Grand
Central Station. Then take the subway S train one stop west to 42nd
street 7th avenue. Take the local Downtown 1 or 9 train to 28th street
and you are 2 blocks away. Hope to see you there. Regards, Charles.

Re: [motm] NYC/NE MOTM UG

2000-06-18 by josiah

i'll be along. all i need is the street address, i'll find it without
the subway unless it's raining. i realize it's not the amount of
modules one has that matters. question though.. you say all
are welcome who are interested? i've got a buddy up on w 88th
who has shown definite interest in MOTM (after i plague him
with emails detailing the fun in soldering, etc..) who would, i'm
sure, jump at the chance to check out some systems firsthand.
he may be working as usual but i dunno. i do know he's honest
& trustworthy, and you wouldn't regret letting him in.. well.. i've
informed him the meeting is happening, & when. maybe.. ?
