Filter design question / MOTM 120 mod suggestion

Filter design question / MOTM 120 mod suggestion

1999-02-12 by Dave Bradley

How close to free would it be to put an extra output jack on the ladder
filter for highpass operation? I've seen this on Phil Cirrocco's CMS system,
where he has a Moog filter module that has 2 lowpass outputs, and an
identical looking one that has 1 lowpass and 1 highpass that costs only a
few bucks more. Sure would be a very versatile addition. In addition, my
Chroma service manual talks about how the filters are actually implemented
as highpass for lower parts count, but the lowpass transfer function is
obtained by subtracting the highpass output from the input signal (if I
remember what it said correctly). Could something along these lines be done
without compromising the sound of the lowpass filter?

My mod suggestion du jour:

On the MOTM 120, install a new row of 4 jacks and bring the individual
counter outputs out to the panel. Now you have the best of both worlds - a
mix output for audio and for creating complex control voltages, and
individual outputs for clock division - real handy for sequencing.

That is such a really cool idea Dave (geesh, "really cool" did not make me
sound like a teenager did it?). More.... more....

On the idea of doing mods without messin' with the cool panels, here is a
thought:
For low $$ buy one of Paul's single space blanks and put your extra jacks
and such from two or three adjacent "modified" modules on this single jack
panel. If you ever want to "de-mod", the panel original MOTM panel is
unscathed. You could use decent plug connectors over to the "mod" I/O
panel.
