advertizing pictures

Excuse me, but ist there a way to avoid attaching advertizing pictures to the mails ?
"1 Million in prizes" as a gif picture - I don't think I want to see that !
I'm avoiding web pages that start little windows with that kind of crap, and now
it comes thru the mailing list ...

According to the 180 spec sheet the power consumption is 40ma for the +15V rail and 20ma for the -15V. The 6 pin din connector carries +/-15V, Ground, Keyboard CV, Gate and Trigger. I plan to open mine up over the weekend and see where the pinouts go. I also received a 6 pin din cable with the keyboard and was thinking about cutting off one end and connecting an AMP .156 connector like the ones used in MOTM. Or I may just use a wallwart. The service manuals for the 100M series can be found at  Music Machines: Roland System-100m  The links are not indexed so you will have to open each until you find what you are looking for. Hope this helps. Charles.

consumption level (in terms of motm module equivelants)?

I see - but the strange thing is that I never noticed this, and now come 3 mails with
pictures (almost) in a row ... all right, if it's nothing you can switch off, I won't complain.

It's a function of the free e-mail list service. Nothing is truly free online, and eGroups pays for our list by selling advertising. So unless someone wishes to host (and maintain!) a mailing list on a private server, this is the next-best thing.

I have majordomo running on my machine. It currently handles
the Analogue Heaven Off Topic list as well as a few private lists.
I'm sure Paul's hosting service can setup mailing lists. However,
most have very poor search services, if any. AH and AHOT both
have killer search engines, but these were done by a private individual
and is not available to the public. (that I know of)

Said private individual just happens to be on this list, too (not me!)

For some reason I think that they (the ads) only show up when people have
their defaults set to send HTML mail (maybe) or send through the eGroups web
site (definitely--they only seem to show up on my posts, that I see, when I
send through that interface). Of course, I've been wrong before...

Hi All !

Pretty strange stuff, as i do not get these . Do they show up as
attachments at yours ?

When i subscribe to this kind of thing, i always try to subscribe by
email, i hate filling in those things, so i avoid, if possible .
With onelist this was possible, dunno about egroups .

Now a pet peeve of mine ;-) (Hi, Paul S)

I do not use html (a bloody waste of bandwith and a crazy
spacewaster) (see below)

Ok, it's time for some more micro$oft bashing : David Bivins, your
outlook express does strange things, when you responded to Juergens
mail, your response was html, when responding to Dave Bradley, no
html . Strange i reckon . Juergen, your debitel outlook express
does similar things : your responses to Charles Stella's and David
Bivins html sent same, but the answer about the Voyetra is not in
html . Seems you guys have some sort of "send same as received"
option checked (some switches are not easy to find, but this is 2nd
hand info, ask Paul) . And Charles Stella is using NS Mozilla, but
he responded to a normal mail . Hmmm... So Charles originates html .
According to Pegasus, my mail prog, the original is 2.2k long .
Charles quoted this mail and added about double the text . Result :
an html mail of 19k .

Here's the bashing : outlook crap is configured out of the box to
send html in all it guises, seems Billy wants to force this upon us .
He bought into providers, so he'll cash in again, with all this
wasted bandwith . Hmm, i wonder if he has stock in HD manufacturers
as well ;^P

Hope this helped .

Keep 'em oscillating :)

You are right !

One of the first things I turned off in my mailer was this stupid sending
html format. (And yes, everybody who is sending mails to a bunch
of people at the same time, like on a mailing list, should do this.)

But - surprise ! - I found a switch that still said "return in the same
format",
just as you suspected. I switched this off immediately, so I hope I will not
pass the infection on in the future. Unless there is another hidden
mechanism
that will turn it on again automatically after some time ...

Thanks for the hint,

JH.

RE: advertizing pictures

hi all,

I'm subscribed in digest mode & haven't noticed any of these adverts.
I believe in digest mode all HTML tags are stripped, as are attachments
(which is a drag on occasion). I'm using OE 5.01 on a Mac - and I can
receive individual HTML emails.

maybe digest mode is the key...

If you're not getting the *real* attachments sent by listmembers, you're
really missing out!

Also, the digest removes senders' Email addresses, so there's no way of
getting in touch with them individually if you're only getting digests.
