*** MODULE #1000 ***

2000-05-02 by Paul Schreiber

It's official! Module #1000 (a MOTM-320 kit) was shipped today, somewhere in
the Eastern USA. It was sent by Fed-Ex, so look for the truck on Wednesday!

The consolation prize (#999) goes to David Bivins (a MOTM-700 kit). Nice
try!

I guess for module #2000 I'll have to think up another prize. Maybe 1
assembled module of your choice?

Anyway, thanks to everyone for my "little hobby" that is 90% of my
bandwidth. I'll try to
ship as much as I can between now and May 12th.

...as MOTM builders for Paul, probably. :) Things have gotten to the
point that he has *got* to be going crazy trying to build modules for
customers that order more and more new ones every day. Then there is the
kitting up of parts for we who build our own, and the ordering of parts,
the layout of boards and panels for new modules...the process is going to
become astonishingly difficult for one man to manage this year. In fact,
I suspect it has already gone past this stage.

Still, to get 1000 modules out the door in two years as a solo effort is
rather impressive. Of course, lots of R&D contributed by the others Paul
has mentioned made these modules possible, but while the engineers only
have to make one or two prototypes, guess who has to kit up or build every
production model...

I wonder what would happen if Paul ran an ad in Keyboard,

999's still a nice number :) I'll have to work it into one of my
mathematical CV sequencing creations... the track will be called "How I
missed the $200 coupon..." <j/k> :)

Congratulations Paul! What's the slope of your growth? Can we make 2000 in
half the time it took for the first thousand? Does that mean we all have to
take second jobs?

David.
