These were cool old rack-mount voltage-controlled flangers. I know the guy
who used to run this company. Now these things are "vintage" and people are
paying silly money for them.

I have an ADA flanger which is a pedal with a CV input. I think it (CV
input) was made for the ADA CV pedal.
I love the sound.

Would it be possible to make a module to do both analog delay and flanger
effects?

I know these are considered modulation effects and usually are grouped
together in digital effect modules.

Does anyone remember an article by Craig Anderton about using a second
delay line to delay the original/non-flanged signal to compensate
for the fact that digital delays can't go to zero? Apparently for
the same reasons that "thru-zero" is so preferable WRT FM or frequency
shifting.

Multiple taps please. And for any flanger fans, this is a way to get THICK
sounds.

Sure, just a matter of the clocking rate and feedback profile.

The venerable, and still one of my favorite programmable-preset
machines, the Korg Polysix, has 30% of the electronics inside dedicated to
the analog effects board, which (surprise) uses three MN3007 analog delay
registers to provide chorus, phaser (sounds more like a mild flanger) and
the best effect, the "ensemble" mode where the three delay lines are run
at different rates and mixed together for an immaculate pad enhancement
effect. (The Trident machines also have MN300x effects, though one is a
dedicated flanger and the other a dedicated ensemble effector for the
string section).

I should really carry out my plan to cram one behind an MOTM-like panel
and feed signals and CVs at it. The depth/speed is voltage-controlled
already. If only I didn't have this other mountain of stuff to do
first...

Is this the same "ensemble" effect that is on the PS series? That is the
lushest, thickest chorus I have ever heard, although I wish it had
control over more parameters.

I don't know, offhand. If I could see the schematic then a short while
later I could say. :) I think JH has examined the PS schematics (and so
far has given us the MOTM-410 as a result), perhaps he can tell us.

The Polysix and PS series ensemble circuits are related, but not identical.
Quite different in features, relatively similar in circuit design style.
I think the stock PS chorus was only switchable on / off. But in the schemos
I got from Korg Germany there is a hand drawn modification that puts a
variable voltage to the supply pins of the CMOS LFO chips (similar
to the way the Polysix does it) for Rate control.

Hi All !

A gripe :

>These were cool old rack-mount voltage-controlled flangers.

I can understand people wanting to be brief in their messages, but
this is skimping . I for one do not read my email online but
offline, so i have no clue what this is all about, and i'm not going
to log on every time a link is included . That would cost me a
module every month in phone charges . Most days i even go online
only once, hence the delay in my replies at times .

Please do include links, but do describe what is pictured or
mentioned there .

Thanks so much .

Keep 'em oscillating :)

Guilty as charged. I will be certain to describe anything before I put in a
link so that the reader can decide whether or not they are interested in
going to the link.
