PC Audio Interfaces

2000-03-29 by Tkacs, Ken

For those of you looking for an audio interface for the PC, check out
Musician's Friend's new low price ($599, was $999) on the Event (was Echo)
Layla. I just picked one up about 2 months ago and it's very nice. It's a
rack mount box with 8 analog ins, 10 outs, S/Pdif I/O, etc. Works like a
charm with SAW Pro and Cakewalk.

What about the Seasound Solo?
It has been receiving good reviews and its 24/96.
I thought about the Layla but I like the things I've read about the
the Seasound.
Any opinions?

The Seasound unit (I am assuming they only have the one) looks nice, but if
you need more than stereo in/out you will have to look elsewhere. So it
isn't a replacement for the Layla.

I bought the Layla because I wanted to transfer my 8-Track masters to the
hard disk so that I could preserve them and remix them in SAW Pro, so the
Layla fit the bill. Works like a charm.

The Seasound SOLO-EX has eight channels of 24/96 in and out.
Besides its designed by Tom Oberheim, right?
I have heard good things about it but still have to wait and see.
