The only thing you could need the scope for on the VCO is the SINE wave
shape trimmer. However, you can set this by "ear" and it seems to run
about it the middle anyhow. So don't let the scope stand between you and a
VCO construction project. Have you built other modules? I would not pick
the VCO as my first module to assemble.

i only have a multi-meterl, no o-scope. should i just have paul build it
so i know it's right?

I built mine without a scope and it works great and sounds awesome... I set
the trim for the sine shape by ear to the best sound... Someday I'll find
someone who has a scope or pick one up from e-bay...

I built three MOTM-300 VCOs and adjsuted the sine symmetry by ear in each
case. Later I hit them all with a borrowed scope and all three were set
correctly. So as long as you have decent ears and a small screwdriver, don't
let the lack of a scope stop you from building the best VCO on the planet.

i'm a pretty well seasoned electronic tech, so the more complex the project,
the better. i was just worried i might need a scope to set offsets or
things like that.

I just use "Cool Edit" - a program that came free with my sound card,
which has a cool green scope-like display of incoming digital sample..
works good enough for me!
