Cabinet rails

Here's another thought for rails - I may even try this as an experiment. Cut
a 1 piece rail (I voted for 26U) out of 3/4 x 3/4 aluminum. Instead of
drilling and tapping the rail (aluminum is too soft), drill larger holes and
use the SKB style clip-ins wherever you need threads. This will also build
in some slop if you have alignment problems.

I've been planning a IIIC style setup, but I have to admit Ken's pic is
awesome - especially if he populates it with 9 MOTM-300s as illustrated!

I definitely plan on having at *least* 9 VCOs! Not necessarily all
MOTM-300s, as it seems like there are one or two other flavors of VCO coming
down the pike in the future (like the 1u and the Thru-Zero). But, hey the
IIIp had *ten*, right? I have to at least beat that. Besides, three VCOs is
a Minimoog, you know? A modular has SO much more flexibility, it should
certainly have much more in the way of sound sources. A modular synth
compared to say a Mini is like... it's like a pipe organ compared to a Korg
Poly-800. I've played both---the smaller one is good for what it's good for,
but you can't argue with a pipe organ! Nor a huge modular.

By the way, I only illustrated the first three of my cabinets... naturally I
will have many more someday... ! <bg>

As long as we're talking cabinets again, what was the predicted depth of
DoMoaS? I seem to remember that it would be deeper than the current modules,
but---yes, I DID search the archives---I couldn't find where I'd read that.
Just want to make sure my cabinets accommodate future plans.
