Help with MOTM 101

2010-02-25 by Miguel Mendoza

Hello, I'm wondering if my MOTM 101 is working fine. All the sections work but I have always been thinking that the SH output has a very smooth, subtle response. Even I only coud hear small pitch changes on a VCO if I put the SH level at 10.
Today I connected it to my 730 DIV MOD input and it didn't change any value. Other signals like LFOs were modulating de /N output but the SH does nothing.
I checked the SH output with a digital voltimeter and it was changing values at every clock pulse as expected but all of them were positive from 0 to 3.4 v. aprox. I was checking it for a while and I couldn't read any higher than 3.4 v. and all of them were positive. The level pot was at 10 all the time.
So, anybody can say if this is normal? Any tip?
Thanks in advance.
Miguel.

Have you tried patching a large signal into the S&H input? Patch the
Triangle output of a MOTM-300. Run the 300 at the lowest frequency. If
you're not getting any negative output from the 101, something is wrong
with the sample and hold section. If this test works, there may be a
problem with the Pink noise on the 101. Try adjusting the noise gain
trimpot, TP1.

also i'm suspicious that giving the 101 CVs of 0-3.4v is resulting in
small pitch changes only. that should be a 3.4 octave range.

does the 101 CV input work reliably with other CV sources?

Ok, I'll do those checkings. Anyway, I think that I'll search for bad contacts because suddenly yesterday the 101 was working fine in the morning but not in the afternoon...
Thanks a lot to all.
Regards!
Miguel.
