What opamp to use?

What opamp to use?

2009-02-22 by Koos Fockens

Seeing the blinky LED's on Robert Rich's MOTM-800's in the demo video, made me want
these too on my 800's, and I found the mod for this on Stooge Moe's website. Before I start
to buy parts etc, I'd like to know which dual opamp is best suited for this? I realize almost
anything will do, but I want to make sure I get something decent enough not to cause
problems or interference, noise, hiss etc.

Cheers :-)

The mentioned 1458 or a TL072 will do fine. Not critical at all I
think. But have you looked at the Tellun mod here?
http://www.tellun.com/motm/diy/db800/DB-800.html
This adds some other goodies too. And a nice ready-made pcb.

Kind regards,
Ben

Hiya, Koos! Still spending any time in Florida? Anyway...

Others on this list are more qualified to answer, and I've got no
idea what the circuit does, but if you just need a "generic" op amp I
would suggest the LF442 because has low power consumption. (Ray
Wilson uses the 442 and/or 444 in his battery-powered Sound Lab.)

Any dual op amp will do for that circuit. TL072 is fine.

For more MOTM-800 mods see:

I'll second the tellun DB-800 recommendation. I've got them on all 4 of my EG's. And fitting 2 leds onto the 800 panel is not only doable, but very cool looking - see pictures here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/sduck409/2951171310/
