RE: René Schmitz's MS-20 vs. MOTM-420

Hello beautiful people... yes even if your balding.

I have a FNG question.... it's about the MS-20 filter... have any of you had the pleasure of a side by side comparison of these lovelies?

Sonically (sonic·al·ly adv.) are these very similar? Which is really the closest to the KORG MS-20? Would it really matter... are they both kinda close enough?

Enquiring minds want to know. I desire that filter... but not another synth just the filter in my rack... so if y'all can point me in the right direction... tell me where to go... I'd be a happy camper.

Cheers
Steve

Closest to which MS-20 ? The KORG 35 version or the LM13600
version ?

Ren\ufffd Schmitz's says "late MS-20 filter" so it must be the LM13600.

The MOTM-420, on the other hand, I understand is based on J\ufffdrgen
Haible's clone of the KORG 35 version. Its parts list is
suspiciously short on transistors, though... In any case, I own a
KORG 35 and while playing the MOTM-420 demos on synthtech.com, the
thought "but this sounds like my MS-20 !" completely failed to
occur to me. For whatever that may be worth.
