Do I recall some non organic solder being sent out in kits labeled as
organic? I used some I still had in a bag marked 'organic solder'.
It's definitely the thin stuff compared to the no-clean solder. Just
used it to solder my bi-n-tic. I went to do a board wash, but the flux
isn't rinsing off even with the gentle scrub of a soft bristle tooth brush.

Anyone know if RatShack stocks flux remover. I had a can, but can't
seem to find it.

I don't recall that. I did have one kit a while back where the included
organic solder was a little strange (it didn't want to wet the metal,
and
I had to use a higher temp than normal), and I recall some other people
having similar comments at that time. This might have been about
three years ago. I can always tell the organic solder apart from the
no-clean by smell. The organic stuff has kind of a sweet smell when
you heat it. The no-clean doesn't have much of a smell.

Looks don't bother me but does the flux residue pose any potential
leakage paths or can I just leave it? This is a VCO after all. Is it
worth cleaning with flux remover?
