Mouser Projects

2007-11-10 by shari_en_jin

I'm just curious if anybody uses the project manager to keep track of ordering for individual
projects and whether or not they combine and give discounts if you order say, two separate
projects and each project has 5 of the same part, when you check out, do they automatically
combine them and give you the 10 piece discount(assuming that particular piece gets a 10
piece discount)?

I haven't tried combining two projects in one order, but I have put a
project
in an order and then added to it. Basically, when you order a
project, it
just dumps everything listed in the project in your shopping cart.
So it
should give you the discount if you reach the threshold.

I use the project manager, and it does indeed work that way.

now, I wish you could export/import projects as text files or whatever ... that way when someone like Juskiw makes a new module, instead of entering the mouser part#s one-by-one I could just upload a project file. seems like that functionality would be really helpful ...

the only problem i had with it was that it would enforce minimum
quantities even at the project level. so say project 1 and 2 together
put me over the minimum for a part, the site wouldn't let me order
either unless one of them alone was over the minimum.

is this fixed now?

Their BOM import tool is -almost- this. You can't upload a project
file, but you can just cut 'n' paste the part # with the quantity
after it as a big long list, and it converts it to their shopping
cart. Similar functionality. Worked well for me.
