Off-Topic Gossip: STS/Serge

Off-Topic Gossip: STS/Serge

2007-10-11 by Tkacs, Ken

I heard a rumor last night down at the "Silver Apples" cafe that Sound Transform Systems has stopped taking orders for their custom panels of Serge modules. The same person who told me this news claimed that Rex Probe remains adamantly opposed to offering individual modules.

Interesting development, if true. With no other information to go on, it either suggests that STS will now only offer their half-dozen or so rigidly preconfigured panels, or else they are ramping down production entirely. Or possibly, that the Serge designs are migrating to other formats through other channels (e.g., the Bananalogue modules).

Has anyone else heard anything about this and have better information...?

This was discussed on the Serge list a few months ago and seems to be a true
statement - no more Serge custom panels. Only the shop panels will be
offered.

On the moon ;-)

it's a reference to a piece of music by Morton Subotnick... well
worth a listen if you're unfamiliar...

I live in Danbury, CT and there are absolutely NO cafe's within 1/2
hour's driving that would play this kind of music (that I'm aware of).
Bummer.
