brackets, dimensions, options?

brackets, dimensions, options?

2007-09-26 by Eric Frampton

Hey y'all,

I've got some PCB-only kits (Tau Pipe, anyone?) that are gonna need
panels and mounting soon. Now that Stooge brackets are gone (sigh) it
looks like the MOTM BR-1 and BR-15 are the only way to go, right?

What are the dimensions of those?

Are there other options out there?

thanks,
Eric

Bridechamber has Stooge-type brackets, no?
         http://bridechamber.sslpowered.com/
Click "Parts" (left column), then "PCB Brackets" (in the right column).

"Purrrr-fect!", as Catwoman would say.

By the way, why are the brackets made from stainless steel? Does
aluminum not meet the structural needs for it? Seems like Al would be cheaper.

a) Well, the 'flat part' where the pcb mounts is ~4.35" x 3.85" (not the
hole spacing). The flange part (that goes under the pots) is ~1.35" x 3.85".

b) these are stainless steel, aluminum is too soft at these thicknesses,
unless I go to a tempered (like 6061-T6) and those tempers do not like
right-angle bends.

Or galvanised steel (even cheaper).
