WTB: MOTM-950

2007-09-01 by eric f

Hi all,
I'm looking to acquire an MOTM-950. Synth Tech has been, um, less than prompt (16.5 months) in shipping mine and over half my system sits dark in anticipation of it. I've lost faith; perhaps you're not using yours? Offering $260 + shipping/fees.
Thanks,
Eric Filson

Sorry to hear you have to wait so long, I have some kits on order too that have taken about
a year so far, that I have not yet received, but I am not in a hurry, so I don't mind. I can
understand your feelings if you really need the supply, so I just wanted to give you the
following suggestion.
Not sure what your kit building skills are, or if you all ready have a MOTM 900 module?

You could easily use the mains supply connection and power switch of that module and
parallel connect a Power One HTAA-16W-A power supply (on which the 950 is based)
provide juice for those 'dark' modules, if you are in a hurry. All you need to do is get
yourself a power distribution board, or build one on a bread board, or use a terminal strip
of some sort, and build it in the case/cabinet, of your existing modular, if that is an
option?

(make sure you upgrade the fuse to handle the extra load of the second supply, in this
case).

Just a thought, perhaps worth considering if no one offers you a 950 for sale. ( I have a
950, but I'm afraid it's needed for my 650....)

Power One went through a major redesign of their HTAA-16W module this summer
for RoHS. Allied Electronics had them on like 120 day backorder. I finally
figured out that the part number had changed to HTAA-16W-AG (G=green I
suppose). Digikey had some, I bought them and they have arrived. So, later
this month I will be able to ship all of the backlogged MOTM-950s (and the
900s, too).

Again: it's been a long and tedious past 18 months for everyone. But things
will improve :)
