Couple of 440 questions from new user

Couple of 440 questions from new user

2007-08-02 by doctorvague

Just acquired my first full-size MOTM module, a 440 filter. It sounds fantastic. I bought it
used and have no documantation on it. 2 questions:

1) The resonance jack - when you plug into this does the res pot become an attenuator or...?
any explanation appreciated.

2) all the black PC-mounted pots are fine.
All 3 panelmounted blue pots have considerable wiggle in the shaft and the freq (top) knob is
the worst. Are these just worn out and need replacing, or is this the nature of these? I'll
replace them either way as I'm not digging the shaft wiggle at all. Again, any advice
appreciated.

TIA
Phil

If you patch a control voltage into the RES jack, the RES pot acts as an input attenuator.
The RES control is set for a 0 to +5V range for min to max resonance.

Paul may provide you with the documentation, you should inquire about it.

The blue bourns pots have a bit more "wiggle" in their shafts (insert joke here) than the other kind, but it shouldn't be a problem. If you're getting noise or leaps in the values they can be replaced, but otherwise they're fine.

I think you might have "the wiggle" because the nuts behind the faceplace were
not carefully cinched up equally behind the faceplate. If you have a very
thin-profile wrench that fits that nut you should be able to adjust them
without removing anything.. Or, you can remove the knobs and nuts from the
front, remove the bracket from the panel, and try to line up the nuts that way.

I have some slightly loose pots that I need to "fix" too. Not strangely,
Paul's "factory" modules dont exhibit this behavior :)

screw the RIAA. artists, take control.
share and remix music, legally, on your own terms.
