If I feed the 300 an +/-5v signal into FM1, but set it to DC coupling, what
does the 300 do with the input signal?  Does the DC coupling switch essentially
act as a positive bias?  Or does it ignore everything below 0v?  Or does it do
some other magic?

Sorry if this is already explained in the docs, but I dont have the docs handy.

On the '300, the AC/DC coupling is for the Linear FM only. All it does is 
insert/short a cap to remove the DC component.
