Milton sequencer for sale

2007-06-27 by sduck409

After much deliberation, I've decided to sell my yet to be completed Milton sequencer.
Although it's 90% done, I seem to have lost steam/interest in finishing it.

What it is: This is a 16x4 sequencer, with a lot of bells and whistles. Detailed info can be
found here - http://www.buzzclick-music.com/about_milton.html . I've put mine behind a
FPE panel that fits into a motm system - pictured here on the top right -
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sduck409/474563097/in/set-72157600140486163/ .

Its condition: The boards are all stuffed, most of the wiring and construction has been
done. My first attempt at putting it together, with just one bank at first, yielded a working
sequencer, but the values of the steps 2 and 10 knobs were affecting the whole output,
and none of the async things were working. I took it apart, checked all the solders and
wiring, rechipped all the ic's on the engine board, and put it back together, still with just
one bank board, and it worked correctly with none of the steps 2 and 10 problem,
although I didn't check the async side of things. I then tried wiring in the second bank
board, and the thing started hanging on steps 2 or 10 alternately. That was about 6
months ago, and I just haven't had the energy to mess with it since then, although I have
been building other synth projects, so I think it's time to pass it on to someone else to
mess with. It's probably just a matter of a better set of eyes seeing my one or two bad
solders or wiring, and replacing the ic's yet again, and reassembling the thing. Peter
Grenader has been quite helpful in debugging advice, so I'd think the new owner wouldn't
have a problem there. Paul's seen some of my solder work, and helped me with it a bit
when I was new at it, so I don't think there'll be any big effort at resoldering.

What you get: Basically everything you need to finish this. All the boards are finished, and
all the hardware needed will be sent. I've used the same stuff Paul uses on just about
everything, so it'll integrate well into a motm system. The only thing I'm not sure about is
the knobs - they were pretty expensive (the same kind as Paul uses, only the next size
smaller), so I was splitting them across several orders from mouser, and I may or may not
have gotten enough. I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 banks (48) of them. And of course
I'll send the schematics and all the paperwork that came with it, and a disk full of
extraneous computer files related to this project. And a bunch of extra parts - I bought
dupes of a lot of it. If anyone wants detailed pictures of anything, just ask.

Price: this is hard - I've got probably way more that 700$ invested in this project - and
that's just a rough guess, I've not actually added up anything. But it doesn't work, so I'm
thinking 500$ is a good price for what you get. I don't actually know if there's any interest
in this, so if I get 100 interested parties, I may see if anyone is interested in offering me
more, or if no-one's interested I'll lower the price. So let's say 500$. Paypal only, although
I have a merchant account, and can take credit cards. Don't send me anything now - wait
till I send an invoice.

Ebay rating: my ebay user name is sduck409 if you want to check my nearly flawless
transaction history. My only problem on ebay has been with a seller who didn't send what
I'd paid for, and responded to my posting of bad feedback by returning the "favor".

Contact me off list, please. sduck409 [at] comcast dot net

Why not just put it on eBay if you're running an auction?

Fair question - I originally wanted to do it on ebay, as that s how I do a lot of this type of thing. However, it seemed the right thing to do to post it here

Sorry, it seems to have sold locally. Thanks for all the interest! ... -- ... Stephen Drake sduck409@comcast.net makeme1witheverything@gmail.com
