New shopping cart *on-line*

New shopping cart *on-line*

2007-05-27 by Paul Schreiber

Well, I put in a few more hours of SW Hell (MySQL/PHP/JavaScript/SSL certs/etc)
and have the new shopping cart loaded.

a) The new USPS rates/services are active for both the US and International.
b) There is probably some 'placeholder' text scattered about the cart. If you
find any, let me know.
c) In general, if something goes 404 or spews out some bizarre error message,
please cut/paste into an email and send it to me.
d) the old database was exported/imported, so no orders or account info was lost
(hopefully!)
e) in order to be SSL secure, you need to either access the cart from the
homepage OR by:

https://www.synthtech.com/testcart

The new cart is renamed 'testcart' because the old cart is still lurking on the
server in case I have to abandon ship. But it *IS* the 'real' cart,
I had to pick a name so this is what I picked :)

f) the new cart has lots of nice touches and reformatting, a faster/better
search, and the ability to accept discount codes :)
I have ordered the hardbound User manual ($44, 300 pages) so I can understand
what the heck I just did for the last 14 hours.

Well, that took *all day* and wore me out. Again, everything *should work OK*
and as before. The main thing to notice is there are more "button icons" to
speed certain tasks, the new USPS shipping rates/options, and the nice green
color.

If you click on Discount Coupons <http://www.synthtech.com/testcart/
index.php?main_page=discount_coupon> you get a placeholder.

If you go to the MOTM-000 breadboard, you get a missing image icon
above the text "MOTM DIY: PC Boards". The breadboard itself is shown ok.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
