Is it me or is there just no activity on this group at the moment, even when I refresh my browser, or empty it's cache, nothing changes, I've been looking at the same messages... Or perhaps it is silence before the storm :-)

There has been little message activity lately. In US, last few weeks have been Spring Break (schools out) and now Easter. BTW: it is *snowing* here in Dallas/Fort Worth today (not very hard, but still snowing!). Last year on this date, it was 89F. Paul S.

The weather sure is strange in recent years... Almost makes me feel guilty when plugging the synth into a socket, greenhouse gasses etc... Here's an idea for a new module, the solar power module, for a true green synth experience :-) On 7 Apr 2007, at 14:39, Paul Schreiber wrote:

Ah... that would be due to my change-over from winter to summer tires this morning. Sorry dude. :) -George "Paul Schreiber" <synth1@...> wrote: > > BTW: it is *snowing* here in Dallas/Fort Worth today (not very hard, but still

It's cold here in the east US too - snowed the other night - they're predicting more tonight. So I guess it is silence before storms of a sort. We set module-building aside the last coupole days. I'm cooking a Bison stew for easter. It's my Mom's recipe (only she used beef). I tested it last week and I'll be working out the kinks as I prepare it this time with Bison. I like the solar power idea. How about an excersize-bike/generator instead? Or maybe a mule on a treadmill? So what's going on in MOTM-land? Haven't heard too much about MOTM DIY assembly efforts. Who's been making MOTM modules from the board, parts, panels and brackets you can buy from Paul now? And who's been getting Frac Rack MOTM modules? Any reports on those and how they're mixing and matching with your other Frac gear? Richard Brewster http://www.pugix.com Koos Fockens wrote:

Will and I have been assembling 4 800s and including Scott Juskiw's DB800s. Mostly for our own amusement, we've posted pics at: http://www.dragonflyalley.com/billAndWillMOTMSynth.htm We've had help from you, Richard, regarding power distrubution, Dave Bradley, a ton of help from Scott Juskiw, David Brown, Mr Mike and, of course, Paul. Thanks a ton, all. Our next step - right after easter - is drilling 2 holes in each of the 800 panels for a green and a red LED. Then we'll finish these up. We took a bunch of time to tune my piano which turned into a two-week experiment in miking it too. But now that's done and I can begin laying down piano tracks with impunity, it'll be on to building the the noise generator next week. Really nice construction photos, Bill and Will. I have got to try out Bill's famous Grilled Cheese sandwiches with Dandelion Greens (and fried dried hot peppers)! Richard wjhall11 wrote:

>So what's going on in MOTM-land? Last weekend I breadboarded a new waveform animator circuit. Today I'm doing a PCB layout for it. Tomorrow I'm going to start working on a second animator circuit. I don't want to say too much about them at this point. But if things go well, I'll have PCBs available before the summer. Keep your soldering irons warm!

It shelved it over a year ago because I was getting some really screwy results. I decided it was time to figure it out. I'm using a CGS-44 development board and I had modified it a bit. Turns out one of my mods eliminated the ground from the LM311 comparator. I'm surprised it worked at all. I need to wire it up in a temporary panel and try it with some real signals. Dave

Unlike Scott and Bill and Will, I haven't had much chance to work on my synth projects. Though I'm now going to watch for Scott's animator circuit and Bill and Will's next culinary adventure! You guys (and pretty much this entire list, really) rock! To be fair, I have been working on the new output mode cleaners for LIGO. OMCs are cavity filters for the lasers just before the photodiode pickup. Working with the other engineers on the LIGO project takes pretty much all of my brainthrust. Getting information from them is roughly akin to drinking from a firehose! Man, stay awake in school! And it was in the low 80's near Seattle on Friday. Another reason some of us are quiet is because taxes are due in a week. Lots of paperwork, and lots of money that can't be spent on MOTM! Ivan

I bought a whole bunch of kits from Paul before they went away, and have finished all but one. I've been turning my attention to cleaning up and trying to fix a pile of old keyboards that I bought off of a local player who got out of the business. Some of the troubleshooting has been beyond my knowledge, but it's a great exercise, anyway. Paul S. and Tony Allgood have been saving my arse regularly. (and this in-between, like, real work: sessions and gigs and such.) I'm going to sell off my FMR Audio RNP and RNC (mic pre and compressor; $600 for the set, if anyone's looking) to finance the purchase of a couple of more Seventh Circle mic pre kits; I want to try out their API and Neve clones, but they're not cheap and I'm just a working musician, after all. We've had chilly weather here in Atlanta, too - down to freezing and below the past couple of nights - and my heating system got jealous of the air conditioning and decided not to work when I tried to flip it back on three days ago. Brrr. Thankfully it decided (on its own) to fire up this morning at about 5am... Mmmm.....bison stew. Sounds excellent. So happy Easter, y'all. Anyone up for an egg toss in the April chill? Eric

We've got 8-10 inches of snow here in Cleveland. The Indians' home opener and the rest of the weekend series is snowed out... It snows on the opener about once every 10 years or so. -Greg

Well by gosh, if GLobal warmings gonna bring on another ice age I'm all for it! I've lived in Texas for almost 8 years now and still shrivel up into a big whining and iritable sloth during the 3-4 month long heat wave that Should be picking up already....
