fyi, not an ideal solution, but i thought i'd mention that i just successfully managed to do a 650 firmware upgrade running XP under the new VMWare demo on a macbook pro. I was using a midisport for the external interface. also, happy new year :) --mikest

That's good to know, altough I just upgraded my 650 with the use of my company laptop running win XP. Also a midisport usb interface used. The midisport driver installation was trouble some, and still everytime i plug it in, win XP still says found new hardware and the installation wizard appears, but I got it working at least. Non of such nonsense happens on Mac OS ( X ) in my 18 year of mac experience so far, and I would just hope that the updater would be ported to that OS, so I can update using my macs, and leave Windows only for work, I have a G4 based powerbook, and will eventually get a new Intel based Macbook Pro, but don't want to run Windows on it if I can help it, but if all else fails it will save me having to drag two laptops around. So Paul, as a new years present, could we have an OSX version of the VM updater as universal binary please, so PPC and Intel Macs can use it :-) --- In motm@yahoogroups.com, Mike Estee <orbelisk@...> wrote:

Funny you should mention this. One of the largest major hurdles of doing the SFUU for OSX was getting hardware that would work, with OSX drivers, with either my dual proc G5 (plugging in the MIDIMan 1x1 does *NOTHING* on it), or my Macbook (keeps giving me an "unknown device" error). I've never had any problems on my XP boxes, so your mileage may vary. ;-) -->Neil ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. Neil Bradley KE7IXP Beaverton, Oregon
