Why not schedule it along with the Analogue Heaven mailing list festivities?

a) because it's all analog
b) because there will be even more folks
c) less hassle

There were several AH get togethers last year. I attended the midwest
one in northeast Indiana, and also the one in NJ for NYC area AHers.
Both had MOTM gear present. Both were fun and allowed attendees to
check out other gear. The midwest get together had some other modulars
present and it was good to check out the different modulars. While I
can't speak for the people who host the AH get togethers I can't see
why MOTM owners wouldn't be welcome.

I'm in Fairmont, WV--about 3.5 hours from Columbus. By coincidence, I'm
also 3.5 hours from Baltimore,MD/Northern Virginia, Buffalo NY, Cleveland
OH and Ashland, KY. However, flying is an option for places like Dallas
or Chicago (my wife's folks are in Chicago--I go there rather a lot as it
is).

MOTM Festival 2000! Will you be there???

1999-12-11 by Tentochi

I am sure that got most people's attention. The idea of having a
festival/meeting/gathering/congregation for the MOTM would be rather fun. I
know quite a few people live outside of North America and with the continent
we are pretty spread out. That doesn't mean it isn't worth trying.

The first idea was to hold such an event in Dallas, TX, USA, which the
international headquarters of Synthesis Technology resides. If that were
the case, I figured almost everyone except the founder of Synthesis
Technologies would have to fly in.

I live in Columbus, Ohio, and frequently find myself in Chicago and Indiana.
Cleveland, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Lexington,
Nashville, Pittsburgh, Morgantown, Louisville, Chicago, Fort Wayne and
Chicago are all fairly accessible to me.

Where are the rest of you located? Is anyone else interested in doing this?

Many people with like minds have similar kinds of meetings, but this one is
primarily influenced by the AH (Analogue Heaven) meeting a while back in
Fort Wayne, Indiana, I believe. I did not attend, but heard many good
things about it. AH, BTW, was founded here in Columbus, OH, by me friend
Todd Sines.

Well, if enough people are interested (at least 5?), I thing this will start
to develop naturally. I think this would be a great experience to meet
other followers of the cult of the MOTM.

Ciao!
Todd

It could be fun, I agree.

Yeah. we could all crash at Paul's place. <snicker>

I am interested and am also in the Midwest (Indianapolis, Indiana) Most of
those places you mentioned are decent for me too.

If you are talking about the one about a year ago that was near Ft. Wayne,
I agree. I went and enjoyed it a lot.

Count me in Todd for something regional in the Midwest if there are enough.
I could also be interested in something far away too if I knew a lot of
MOTMers would be there.

The AH Midwest gathering will most likely be in March again. I'm not
sure on the NJAHAJ. I attended last year but my friend no longer lives
in the NYC area so I doubt I'll be there, but ya never know. Since
I helped organize it (and Steven Dubofsky did the rest) I'm not sure
of it's future. I'll check into the AHMidwest gathering.

Good idea Cary. I met Cary at the MW AH meeting last year. It was fun
even though I had to leave earlier than I first wanted. Of course, a side
benefit would be exposing more analog lovers to MOTM.

Since I was out of the country, I have not resigned up to AH.

Are there any events currently scheduled? I am assuming not since no one
has mentioned it. I think it is a good idea, but we may have to wait a
while for it to happen. If this does come to pass, I prupose we have a
special MOTM SIG meeting where we have dinner together or hang out for an
hour or two together.

If nothing comes up with AH in the next couple months, I want to go forward
with the MOTM event perhaps early spring so that driving isn't an issue (or
at least the odds are GREATLY reduced).

Hmm,

same for me ;-)

Travelling to Great Britain (from Berlin) isn't that a big problem in
terms of time and money ( having Branson - Virgin - starting its
service next year ) and a "gathering" should be quite a fun.

okay - scratch that last comment of mine, Berlin sounds far more fun... (not
been there for five or so years either)

Are there any more of us in the PNW besides Dave Fulton and myself? I'd
gladly help organize/host such a gathering if so. Travel to Texas or the
midwest is probably out of the question for me for the next while at least.

I am willing to travel to the PNW (Pacific NorthWest--Seattle, Portland,
Olympia, Vancouver(?), et al.). I am also willing to travel to
Dallas--although this one really comes down to Paul's commitment to make
some arrangements for us. London or Frankfort or Paris are also pretty easy
(and cheap) to get to from the States--especially through March.

Perhaps would could have (nearly) simultaneous events--Europe, Midwest, PNW,
etc.???

Paul, get some more customers so we can have more people in attendance!
