Deliveries of the Spectrol 149-71104 pot (100K, linear, cermet element) have
been push out until mid-*November*. Gack!

So, for about 40% of the kits shipping until then, we will substitute with:

148-71104 (100K, linear, conductive plastic element)

This will NOT change the performance OR the sound of anything.

Just make a mental note that the parts list will not exactly match the pots.

But the form factor is different. The stems are half the diameter and the
threads are .125 shallower. This is going to be a noticeable difference. The
power ratings are also different.

You're probably looking at the Mouser part that has a 1/8" shaft. The
part Paul is talking about here should look exactly like the ones that
are currently supplied.

But I am curious Paul, if it supposedly doesn't make a difference...why
pick cermet over conductive plastic?

Negative. Exact same part, been using both for 8 years :)

Cermet was all that was stocked originally in 1998 by Newark (Mouser did not
carry them until 2002), and it's lower drift (good for VCOs). If you notice, 149
pots have not been used in newer module designs :)
They are best used in the VCOs, though. But now I orer the factory 600pcs
minimum (gulp!), so I can get whatever I want (cermet or plastic, linear or log,
any value).
I did have to beg and plead to get Spectrol to make the 100ohm pots in the
WaveWarper (those puppies cost me $8.50ea!!, and I 'piggy-backed' a 100pc order
with a 500pcs 148 log pot order)
