An easy question....

An easy question....

2006-05-17 by Matthew Hiscock

Hi all,

Sorry to ask such a newbie question, but I had a look on the site and couldn't find it and looked in the list archives but couldn't think of a way to narrow the search down.

Am I right in thinking all the filters are controlled 0 to 5v and NOT -5v to +5v?

I use a combo of dotcom (where you can adjust the voltage produced by the EGs to be -/+5 or 0-5) and MOTM units. So for voltage control of the MOTM gear in general, are there any items which use -5v to +5v (besides, I guess, the FM in of the VCO)?

thanks,
Matthew

All of the MOTM CV inputs on *every* module can take -5V to +5V. Now, you need
to understand what '-' means :)

When you apply a "negative" voltage to a CV input, it means the overall CV into
the module, which is the *sum* of the front panel pots AND the CV in, will
*decrease*.

For example, if you set a MOTM-440 FREQ pot to the '6' tick, and input -2V, it
is *exactly the same* as if you put it on the '4' tick to start with. You can
think of negative CVs turning panel pots counter-clockwise (lower), and a
positive CV turning the pot clockwise.
