(Sad) State of the Stooge
2006-04-19 by mate_stubb
Folks, I want to let everybody know what is going on in Stooge-land these days. Frankly, things are not going well at all right now. Paul H. is headed home soon, but even if he does extremely well, he won't be available for business any time soon. Therefore, our initiatives to bring bracket and panel making in-house are over. We have a bunch of translucent cables in stock, but the procedure to add them to the online catalog is known only to Paul H. who can't tell us. Rick H. is consumed with running the family business. He cannot afford to donate his or employees' time to Stooge affairs without compensation. Between needing to pay people (where Larry, Paul H. and I used to donate our time to the cause), price increases for cables, and RIDICULOUS price increases for stainless steel, Rick's feeling is that we need fairly drastic price increases to make it worthwhile for them to continue. I am looking into doing a panel run myself, but I gotta tell ya, the prices I'm getting from vendors make me cringe compared to the back door dealin' Larry was able to pull off with painters and metal guys. I've asked Rick to look into less expensive material for brackets, such as zinc plated mild steel, in order to keep the cost down. We may have some answers within a week or so as to what shape the business would have to take in order to move forward. Please don't clog up the list with replies - hit me offlist if you want to talk further. Moe
