MOTM-650 video tutorial

MOTM-650 video tutorial

2006-04-01 by Paul Schreiber

OK, at 1:20AM I shot some rambling (and I do mean, *rambling*) video of me going
through various MOTM-650 menus.

www.synthtech.com/m650/m650tutor.wmv

It's about 64MB (same as the stuffing video). I make a couple of slips ups (most
noticeably, saying "CV keyboard" when I was thinking "MIDI keyboard").

But this should give you a general idea on how the front panel works, and some
of the many bells and whistles.

Today forward is 100% booked, I will have to upload the PDF manual sometime
around 4PM Sunday.

MOTM-650 5V Supply

2006-04-02 by xamboldt

In anticipation of my 650 arriving, I'm looking to add a 5V supply.
I'm assuming a linear supply would be preferable, but with all the
cheap 5V wall wart switching supplies floating around, could I use
one of those without causing myself too much trouble? I'd be hooking
it up to the terminals on my 990 distribution board for 5V and its
associated ground.

There are some cheapish 5V linear regulated wall warts at Jameco -
what about those?

It needs to be +5V at 700ma or better, *regulated*.

But you can connect it to the '990 +5V terminal blocks, and then insert a '900
4-pin power cable into any of the open 4-pin male headers.

You are better off with a Power One 5V 3A supply: HB5-3/OVP-A

Digikey has them for $36.00 plus shipping.

Of course you have to wire it yourself.

This is critical: if you are unsure about wiring AC directly into these types of
"open frame" supplies, get the wall wart. There are now small +5V 2-3A out parts
that can power several "digital" modules (like the upcoming MOTM-730 VC Pulse
Divider).
