Moog Cabinet comment

After looking through the archives at some of the cabinet discussions, I think there is an interesting feature of the sloped Moog cabinets that some folks might have missed. The bottom row of "half panels" are hinged to the base of the cabinet which is also why the bottom edge is larger than the top edge. It is a simple piano-type hinge that allows you to flip down the lower panel for access to the backside of the panel. Those who are building cabinets like this might want to think about hinges. With a sloping front panel, it is a real pain to get at the lower panel from the rear of the cabinet. You will appreciate the ability to get at the lower panels if they are hinged. Also, there is a wood brace that goes across the cabinet that holds the rails for mounting the top of the half panels and the bottom of the full panels. This brace fits into a slot on the cabinet side and is glued in place. Anyway, I thought this might be benefical to the cabinet builders out there. I'm building a Moog-style upper cabinet. I just ordered my first modules this evening. When I get the plans done, I'll pass them on. 27U wide looks quite possible now! Eric
