The most interesting thing to me is that this stuff came to your attention in the first place....

True enough. It's gotten worse since that photo was taken, too: I've added
two computers since then. The sad part is that I build all of my modules
right in front of the modular--I shovel the clutter aside and put down a
piece of masonite to protect the top of the desk. This is what happens when
you try to pack two businesses and an e-music studio into a relatively small
basement. :-)

Man, you should see my studio, if you think that's messy. And, no, I
will not post any pictures...

You guys are wimps. My office makes Adam look like a neat freak. 8 Month
old pictures, but it really hasn't gotten any better, and my studio is
MUCH worse:

Yes, those are unbuilt MOTM modules sitting against the wall. And consider
now that I have a 6 piece drum set in that same room. Believe it or not, I
have no trouble finding anything.

Yeah, Neil has me beat. He gets bonus points for the MAME console under one
desk. I have a LinnDrum also, but it's on the keyboard stand which is just
out of view of the picture that Chris posted.

Actually, it's a JAMMA harness test unit. ;-)

Wow Neil! What a cozy space...

Suddenly, I don't feel like such a slob. Though my studio would make
you all look like you're paying for maid service (don't even ask about
the storage areas), it's nice to know that I'm not the only
organizationally impaired person on this list. Yes Adam, I still dust
the modular and the guitars, but the floor is not safe to walk on
without shoes!

These are great shots. After looking at shots of all of these beautiful,
well organized studios over the years, I was beginning to believe that I was the
only slob out there. It is good to know that there are others like myself
in modular land. Harry D

In my admittedly limited experience, the most creative people I've
encountered are slobs to some degree or another. Conversely, many of the
beautiful, well-organized studios one finds pictured on the web often seem
to have a conspicuous absense of tangible output (i.e. CDs or even
downloadable samples of works). The place looks nice but one wonders whether
they spend more time tidying it than actually making music in it. That's not
to say that being a slob is a necessary prerequisite for creativity, but
there is definitely a correlation in my observation.

I'll tell you one thing: my studio is *too* messy to work in. Some
clutter and mess is OK, but past a certain point, it makes it difficult
to focus. So... any of you non-musically-productive people with clean
studios want to come up and clean mine?  (;

I'll make it known, that no matter how messy my office is, there's nothing
gross in it. No undiscovered cat puke, dirty underwear, uneaten
sandwiches, etc... There is no smell. ;-) I managed to release a bit over
6 retail products working in my "mess" last year.

Amen, brother Adam. Why clean it up if it's just going to get dirty again?

Well, there is the fact that cleaned studio will get Messy Again(tm) but
a dirty studio will get Even Messier(tm)
